At 6:30 a.m. I arrived at Van's & there he was waiting with a cup of coffee. This was New Years morning & our group was going to the annual Polar Bear ride to San Andreas, Ca. to meet up with the group that would be showing up for brunch & friendship.
At 8:00 a.m. Van, Ken, Leonard, Gene & I left for our ride (the first time in three years it hadn't rained (GREAT)! The temperature was 46 at Van’s, & went up to 50 in Antioch then down to 41 where we met George & Ella at the Rio Vista & hwy 12.
George took over as our leader & we were on our way. Things were smooth until we passed through Lodi & then we ran into FOG! Visibility was about 80 ft so driving was very slow until we got through the little town of Wallace & we began to climb up in the hills & finally got above the fog & beautiful sunshine & arrived in San Andreas in fine style.
As we arrived, so did Harry & Karen & they brought a new couple that just joined chapter P (sorry I didn't get their names). Chapter P made a good showing. After visiting old & new friends, brunch was served (very good) & then the drawings & everyone of our group won something & Leonard won the pre-registration award of $25.00.
About 1:00 p.m. it was time to leave & we all left in sunny weather, how nice! Arrived home around 3:00 p.m. with a nice leisurely ride completing a fine day & looking forward to the next one, soon I hope.
In friendship, Herb
